Missile Interceps

Postby The War Game » Sun Jun 10, 2007 5:49 am

Nuke missiles should only be able to be intercepted on re-entry into the atmosphere, which by rights is only a very short time and generally right over the target, and not thousands of km away. Just a thought. MIRVs would be a good idea. Have the choice of single or multiple warheads made before actual launch.
Peter.

Do a quick search and you'll see the general consensus is that, even though certain things might be more realistic, they wouldn't necessarily make for a better game - both over complicating things and significantly altering the balance within the game.

Left arm, KingAl is definitely the left.

Xander's right arm is full of righteous fury, brimstone and hellfire, and smotes non-searchers leaving only the withered husks of their souls.

Like I posted in another thread... the state of the world when this is suppose to take place- mid to late eighties, when Wargames came to the theaters- there were NO abm sites except 1 in the soviet union, a silo of 100 missles near moscow. This was a requirement of the Salt II treaty, part of the M.A.D. policy, that no nuclear power could defend it's civilian population with antiballistic missles... so that the possibility of a nuclear war was reduced due to it's impracticality. Stupid as it all sounds, the 14,000 or so nuclear warheads together owned by both superpowers were never exchanged, we're still here. In the movie, you don't see any ABM's used at all. Launching of SLBM's and ICBM's meant garaunteed target destruction unless there was equipment failure of the delivery system.

Why do you think the only winning move was not to play? :P
