Units Icons

Postby Ghost Bear » Wed May 09, 2007 5:46 am

Hi, i'm new here and new in game. The only problem i met: When big battle in action it is hard to find out what is happening with naval units. I have idea about change a bit icon for battleship, or just flip it horisnotally (like b -> d) because it looks very similiar with carrier icon.

Well i'm glad my ask will be heard. (=

Well, I'm fairly comfortable with the current battleship sprites, but you could check out mods which change the sprites - you might find some easier to distinguish.

He said flip it horizontally, not vertically.

I'm tempted to say "Well okay so they wouldn't sink but they don't go backwards too quickly either", but I'll refrain ;)

GhostBear - If you go to the "Mods" page on the main Defcon website, the "Satcon" mod not only gives a rather pretty image of the world to play over, but also replaces all the units with other shapes. The battleship becomes much pointier, the carrier much square-er and the sub looks like something Clinton might use if he couldn't find a cigar case handy.

My only gripe is that it shrinks fighters to miniscule sizes (smaller than the size of the missiles fired by most units). Worth a try though- like any mod in Defcon, you can turn it on or off very easily once it's installed, so give it a try.

To be fair, he could have meant 'flip it around a horizontal axis'. In image-editing programs, 'Flip horizontally' often means this.

You'll notice he actually said b to d, which is not flipping upside down, but rather a horizontal reflection.
