Distributable Game Modes

As per here, I propose game modes - such as Orgazmo, Tyrant etc. - should be distributable, loadable text documents functioning the same way as game styles. I couldn't recall this being mentioned specifically before, but I gracefully accept any onslaught I receive for neglecting to notice a previous suggestion along these lines.

I second the motion, although admitidly, I have no clue what would go into such a thing or if its possible.

If I'm allowed to vote for my own baby into the game, I'll do it. +1 :wink:


Nevermind Orgazmo (although it would be totally cool to see it implemented), mode presets could make setting up games of various sorts more streamlined. Some presets should of course be default, but why not make it remember your last settings or even permit you to save several personal modes just like we already do with styles?

Funny, i was thinking exactly the same thing, you started a thread faster then me though. I think this would be a great idea, surely it can't be too hard to implement (you can already change the range of values, eg. higher populations).

Now that we have config files for Dedcon servers, this idea is pretty much redundant. It'd be good, however, if someone could host various configurations for the servers, so someone can quickly and easily arrange Dedcon servers of specific game types.

I was thinking that too.
I'll clean up my Orgazmo config file today and post it here. Surely the topic I created for Dedcon server owners ( http://forums.introversion.co.uk/defcon ... php?t=4900) could also state the config files...
(so no need to open a new topic).

bert could then hand pick a config or two from there and include it in his standard delivered dedcon server, besides the example files.
