I really really REALLY would like to see names removed from the timer settings. Yes, it helps to give a nudge to certain players who may have forgotten that their speed was set down, and I can see its use here....
But people are using it to gauge who's going to attack now. They wait for it to go to realtime, and check the settings and say "hey, there's Bob using real time--he must be planning an attack! watch for Bob doing anything suspicious, and get everyone to nuke the crap out of him!"
Realtime mode is an option that really helps a different sort of gamer out with this - the kind who likes to take things slowly, and really fine-tune their unit movements. The kind that doesn't really like the frantic click-fests of Starcraft and the like.

I sort of agree with you, in games with more than 2 players, the speed setting requests should simply be anonymous, saying 1 Player is Requesting Real Time, or 3 Players are requesting 20x Real Time...

"Surely you didn't mean to press that button just then did you?"
"No, nor will i disarm the nukes."
"Oh well, I will have my Fighters shoot them down."
"Sure you will."
"Oh NOES, ITS BEEN PATCHED!!!"

There should be some way to nudge the specific player though if it is going on too long. The alert should be non-obstructive and non-annoying to that player though. It shoudl get their attention though, just in case they forgot that they had the game slowed down. There have been times I have been waiting for someone to speed up the game only to realize that I was the one who slowed it down for a nuke strike and forgot to change it back. It wasn't until someone said my name that it caught my attention.

Maybe a sort of "Remind" or "Nudge" button, that would send a note to the offending player, or even just a "ding" to the player slowing it down, without alerting everyone of who it is.

A wary general could use these assumptions against his enemies...
