Interceptors

I was thinking of the idea for the game to have interceptors, or the ability to switch fighters to an "interceptor mode". This unit would be incapable of returning fire to a fighter if engaged in battle, a really easy prey, but would have the precious ability to intercept incoming nukes. It's a rough idea, don't know how much it would interfere in the game's balance, or if it could spoil the game's beautiful simplicity, or even if the supposed long range missiles that interceptors could fire should be limited (like air base nukes), but it was a natural 'click' I had when seeing those nukes flying their way to my territory.

fighters alreayd fire on incomming nukes if told so. you just need to tell them

Hmm, could fighters possibly draw from the nuclear arsenal and detonate the nukes into enemy nukes?

can the fighters also shoot down nukes?!

I've read the discussion about fighters shooting nukes, yes.

What I suggest is a specialized unit for this task, with proper long range intercept missiles animation, etc.
