Scoreboard

Postby Amerigo Vespucci » Thu Oct 05, 2006 12:57 am

As much fun as Defcon is, the well-designed scoresheets at the end of each game leave me wanting something: a cumulative scoreboard.

In my mind, I envision something like the Counterstrike killboards we see all over the place: it'd have listings for everything the game scoresheets do, except combined for a player's whole total. You'd be able to determine averages, total playing time, total kills, total survivors, graphs over time, and other features like that. To ensure fairness, it could be divided into several sections: 1v1, 3-man, 4-man, 5-man, and 6-man. That way you'd have a firm basis to compare players on.

As it is right now, there's no motivation in the game other than to play for the hell of it. There's no real outside goal to achieve, and for people with personalities like mine, we need that outside goal. We need to have a basis of comparison and the ability to compete and say that truthfully yes, I am a better player than so-and-so. It'd be a great addition to the game and beyond the mere niftiness factor would ensure playablity for a longer period of time, as it would provide a goal to strive for -- getting to the top.
