Spacing in the files

I noticed how in all the default prison architect files there are spaces but are they required? how many are needed for each file? I am very confused!
Example:

[Brento666]

...
Example:(space)

Nice example

The empty lines at the back ot files are definitely something (sometimes) required... but yeah, many spaces where stuff could be tabbed...
Mixing it doesn't do much harm, I have my own petty tightly spaced (not tabbed).
