Bought the game through introversion... is there any way to get it through Steam?

I'm not a big computer gamer, just wanted something to past the time. Bought the game, and had been playing it madly for awhile. Then I came across the steam workshop and all the mods that I want to use but since I didn't buy the game through them I can't use it. After doing a bit of research I see that I should receive a Steam Key that should be able to activate the game on Steam. Is this the case?
