Cold War Mod trouble

Postby Pacman » Thu Jul 05, 2012 12:45 am

I have been trying hard to get the cold war mod.... when i go to the link on the forum discussion, it takes me to mod db or indie db and when i download it it comes as a .7z file. and when i move it into my mods folder, it does not show up when i open the game. i am new to all this stuff... can someone tell me how to get it to work? it looks really cool and i want to try it. :)
By the one and only pacman. Can also be seen in game as Richard Nixon

unfortunately most of the defcon mod links are either dead or have loads of unfixed bugs, sometimes they are even forgotten and unfinished, just another reason why defcon is dying :( sorry

a 7z file is a 7zip archive file.

Download 7zip, unpackage the mod and put the folder in the mods folder in the defcon install directory.
Activate the mod in game and away you go.

I recently built a Cold War mod, specifically set in the early 1980's. So far, Version Packs One and Two have been released. Each version comes with three sub-versions. Also, unlike the previous Cold War mod, Berlin is divided in two. Also various factions are also included as well. Map edits were made so that ground structures can be placed in Australia, New Zealand, Hawaii, Falklands, etc. Here is the link below:

You use WinRar or whatever other unzipping program to unzip the files.
