Mac Steam DEFCON Modding?

Postby Ratsqueezer » Fri Apr 20, 2012 5:47 am

Found the application in the proper subdirectory. Just don't know where to drop/create the mods folder itself- any info I've googled is outdated or otherwise incorrect and inaccurate.

Anyone been able to resolve this? I'm running 10.6.8 on i7s.

I'd really like to be able to use satcon, for one.

My filepath and subfolder directory is as follows:

Steam:SteamApps:Common:defcon:DEFCON:Contents/Installscript_osx.vdf

That's where I dropped my first MODS folder, didn't work there.

Inside contents you've got

Frameworks/Info.plist/MacOS/PkgInfo/Resources

Putting a Mods folder here doesn't work; also just tried dropping the mod itself into this directory; didn't work either.

Beyond that are tons of subfolders, figured it didn't have to be that far down.

Any help or thoughts would be appreciated.

Have you tried the Mac Steam forums? I'm not sure anybody here uses Mac Steam, though I could be wrong.

I don't know if the Steam version is different (and it may very well be), but the usual place for mods is ~/Library/Application Support/Defcon/mods . You might try that.

get out of that directory - ending of it anyway.

im not running steam on my mac.

but you should have /.../.../steam/steamapps/common/Defcon.
by chance did you right click on defcon and say "show package contents" because thats where everything is.

here is where you should place your mods folder.

IF THAT FAILS
try making a path in your

user / library / app support / Defcon (may have to make a folder) / Mods

BTW, if niether of those work, there is a simple solution.
    download the mod
make a new folder under your resources (call it original)
    place everything under the:

Code: Select all

steam apps/defcon/contents/main/Graphics + Gui into the "original folder"

    now unzip your mod folder,
place everything where it should be, (new graphics folder replaces old graphics folder)
    and hit replace all

(be sure to copy everything into the original first... or you will lose everything.
hope that helped. i can upload more screens if that was confusing...
