Text-based Commands

Postby Mrpnut23 » Mon Jan 16, 2012 12:14 am

I have been playing DEFCON for quite some time now and I thought I might see what the fan base has made for this wonderful game. And with that being said, are there any mods that allow you to have text-based commands e.g. Europe,silo6 ICMB launch - Russia,radar2, and are there any mods that give you the trajectory information of a nuke, such as estimated impact time, approximate deaths?

As far as I remember Radiant Caligula made a list of nuke flight times. Use the search function of the forum.
What do you mean by approximate deaths? Each nuke hit halves the city poplution: 10->5->2.5-> and so on.

Oh sorry I didn't know that, I never really noticed. But back to my original question, is there a text based mod for DEFCON?
If anything is possible, is it possible for something to be impossible?

No. Traditional moddability is very limited and such things were not possible. They would be now that the source is available, but I don't think anyone would work on a mod that makes the UI harder to use.

I wouldn't say harder... I would say more precise.

I also didn't mean exclusively text-based, I wanted to know whether anyone had made any mods which included text-based commands. If this still doesn't make sense then maybe a reference to "Wargames" might help. Such as in the start when David starts an attack on the United States and !!!SPOILER ALERT!!! Joshua asks him "what are the primary targets?" and he types them out: "Las Vegas, Seattle".

And as I mentioned in my first post, something like "Europe,silo6 ICMB launch - Russia,radar2"?

How would it be more precise? In what sense? Can't be targeting precision, the mouse system is already perfect (unless you misclick by a lot and don't pay attention to highlights).

FOR THE WARGAMES FANS! It would look cooler anyway. But seeing as no one on this forum knows whether anyone has made one, I'll search the dark corners of the internet in search of one... Unless you actually want to answer this post with a "Sure! I've found one and it's great! Here's the link:" But perfect situations like that never occur on the internet :(

I already answered that. No, nobody has made that mod. For certain.

The OpenFlow will entertain a command line interface. Stay tuned.
