Help on how to make a map

Damn, i wrote a topic but, made a mistake and wrote it in the 'think tank' lol :oops:
Anyway, I am Efsid and I'm from Greece. What i want to say is that im working on a new mod and i have ran into some trouble..
I have made new icons for all the units.That was the easy part.
Now i'm stucked on the map.I have downloaded the modsuite nad the 11F.
I created a map and coastlines, borders etc. but I 'm having errors when I'm trying to put it in the game.
I almost smashed my PC today yesterday. lol :lol: Can anyone help on how can i correctly put it in the game?
My units can be placed in sea, fleets cannot be placed on my borders and they can pass through land.
Damn.. can anyone help plzz?

For units can be placed in the sea: I believe it depends on brithness of the grey areas in the territory map. (europe.bmp, africa.bmp...)
Land has to be almost white and sea is something like 50% grey. Just copy the exact values from the original.

You can delete your post, if its the last in the topic. Hit the x in the top right corner. But dont know if you can delete your topic this way.

Oh, ok I'll look at that, but I also saw in other mods(the space battle for example) that it has to have a territory bitmap and something like the water-where the water will be-. Do i have to make files with these things in order to play right?OH, and something else, I also saw a file which it was called sailable.I made one for my map but the game crashes.In addition, i dont know if i have to make travel nodes or something like that, i dont even know what it is. :?:

These are so called critical files, because they are ,ah,hm critical for the gameplay:

earth/ai_markers.bmp
earth/cities.dat
earth/coastlines.bmp
earth/europe.bmp
earth/northamerica.bmp
earth/russia.bmp
earth/sailable.bmp
earth/southamerica.bmp
earth/southasia.bmp
earth/travel_nodes.bmp
gameoptions.txt
critical_files.txt

All other files are pur cosmetical, change them how you like.
sailable.bmp determines land and sea. And thus where ships can sail.
africa.bmp,europe.bmp,northamerica.bmp,russia.bmp,southamerica.bmp,southasia.bmp determine the territorys of every player. This effects where you can place units and where citys will show up.
If you change sailable, you should make sure to also change travel_nodes and ai_markers. Everything there has to be in the water.

I keep getting this message that has started getting on my nerves. 'Node route size mismatch'
After that the game crushes. Do u know what is it? I guess it has somehin to do with the nodes but i had this message even before i draw nodes and put them in the modfolder.

Sorry, dont know what that means. Maybe sailable and travel_nodes need to have the same resolution?
Can you upload your files somewhere? I would like to have a closer look.

It means that at least one travel node is on land. Ships can't travel on land. :wink:

See Here. You can set the preferences.txt to show you the routes in game once you correct that error, but I've forgotten which value you change and don't have time to search.

trickser send me your e-mail, i should sent you the files and tell me what's wrong.

Ace rimmer i've read it several times and done exactly as it says but i still get the error message.Maybe you are right, but i've checked it a 100 times.
