Rubicon
Yeah, so after having some fun with DefLawn (unfinished but playable, non-critical!) I decided to go ahead with my next idea <insert name here>. It's a Rubix Cube inspired Defcon if you will.
I haven't got around to the units, but I'm thinking of simple 3d shapes, with the sub being 2d changing to 3d on launch. Interestingly enough, the nuke arcs look pretty nice curving around a 3D cube no matter the direction.
Edit Playable map here!
Pics, in the rough stages...

It is a river in Italy, made famous during the days of the Roman Empire.

Ok people, if you want to play the map (no units yet) here you go. Rapidshare .zip Complete with six territories, at least 30 cities per territory (I think) and everything else needed to solve the ultimate Rubix Cube puzzle.
Oh yeah, Rubicon is now a city. Each side of the cube has a center city serving as it's capital. Rubicon is the N. A. counterpart I think. As I said earlier, the 3D cube style benefits for the nuke arcs. They look as though they are really curving around to the other side.

Heh, I just tried* to actually play a full game. It was me v 2 CPUs, random territori... er cube faces. The CPU was given the to 'bottom' sides of the same cube I was on.
I got murdered.
*I had pseudo played several mutliplayer games and spectated just to make sure it worked. This game was to see if it was worth playing.

I like the idea of an unbalanced map. It adds more to the game - you have to do something about it, so it inspires people to play a little on the wild side. (/me plugs the 1984 mod for this reason...)
Also, I hate Rapidshare, so I've decided to host it myself. http://www.shinygerbil.co.uk/files/Rubicon.zip
