The Command & Conquer mod...

Hi all.

First, I'm new to modding, and therefore is my first mod.

Right, down to business. I'm making a mod for this amazing game (thanks Introversion) than makes it look and sound more like Command & Conquer (which game I'm hoping to keeping a secret for now). It's a pointless mod really, as Introversion's done a fantastic job of the theme, so this is more of a curiousity thing.

I'm personally changing sound effects around ATM, and I know what to change the colour scheme to I think. The map I won't need changing, as it's fine as it is.

What I really need is somebody to draw up units. I may need help with other tasks, but all I have is MS Paint and a total lack of skills. I can provide pictures of units for non C&C fans if they want to help.

I'm not sure if there are many C&C fans around here though, so if it's of no interest to anyone, I'll forget about it, as it's just for curiosity.

Anyway, if you're interested, please reply.

Well, that's great then. If you are willing Spacemonkey, I've got a few unit ideas for you. (I'm open for ideas too)

However, on the sound front, there's a problem. I've just compiled a new sounds.rar with a few replacement sound effects, but when I turn it to .dat then tun game DEFCON says a file is corrupt (specifically bunker6). Any ideas why?

Don't rearchive it. Just keep your sounds in data/ or mods/ or where ever those are supposed to go now. That probably won't solve your problem, but might help :)

Well, it's just DEFCON's sounds are stored in a file called sounds.dat (which can be browsed in .rar format).

I opened up the .rar, extracted, replaced some files, rearchived, then put the .dat back. Start up the game and I get the error.

Sounds.dat and main.dat all extract to data/ . Files in data/ will override files in either of the archives.

Don't re archive...

Leave the sounds u edited extracted, you may delete the default sounds...

I've made the modifications to English.txt and am now changing the sound effects.

So, how comes the GDI is being founded (or at very least proposed) in RA1? Or that Kane is advising Stalin in it? How comes? Eh?

RA is only called C&C RA in Europe, for a better selling, in America (where it came from) it isn't!
