Chris, in the topic he linked to wrote:When joining a game server any Critical mods that are required will be activated. If those mods are not installed you will not be able to join. The Server Browser now has a new column to show what MODs are running.

Wow, someone's actually mentioned my name with a happy tone. There's a first for everything, I suppose...

And Chris- Run. Run as far and as fast as you can so the happy DEFCON modders will not eat you whole.

I have no reason to kill him....yet.

Well maybe over the fact that none of my mods appeared in the happy "it's POSSIBLE!!!" screenshot :P

Awesome, but until someone else uses the patch, all games you want to join show as "Incompatible"

This is looking VERY good. I had been hoping for some kind of map-maker (I guess that may follow), but to see mods seemingly easy to integrate, this is a great step forwards.

The long term fun in DEFCON will be for custom maps, making this easy for the ordinary players will mean so much.

and for the few that say "I keep winning at Defcon", it creates new challenges for them to overcome.

Yes, I hope a scenario editor comes out next so modding would be significantly easier, though props still go out to Zanzer7 for providing the tools we use currently.

QFT. Perhaps, even in the near future, -I- might be able to mod DEFCON a bit.

And that's a big deal, since I couldn't code something to save my life.

Plus my mods would suck. I mean, really. Think about it. 'RockCon'? Very odd.

Rock, I made a mod that replaced nukes with gigantic hammers.

Almost nothing is too odd to be modded for Defcon- it just depends on how serious one is with his/her mod.

I can only wonder what scenario editing would entail. Fortunately for us the explosion graphic was seperated from the 'area saturation effect' graphic in the latest patch, so I wonder if there would be an icon editor to change things, or a graphic replacer or editor.

Nevertheless I think it's highly anticipated for the next upgrade. And I think we're still up in the air about the ladder/ranking system... IMO, that was adressed in 1.1.

Fuck.

YES.

Hammers of death equal teh FUN.

But seriously. A mod made by me would be a portal into my mind, and trust me, you do NOT want to go there.

Bad things happen all the time.
