SuVir Presents...

(drumroll please)

BIKINI: A DefCon Mod

This mod makes changes to:

-Graphics
-Map (but not in a way that will stop you playing against people without this mod)
-Sound (added in some sounds IV left in the sounds folder but never used)
-text (but not much)
-GUI
-and adds a new style

to play just put this data folder in c:\program files\defcon or wherever your defcon folder is
make sure you use the default style

hope you like!

Very nice work on the cursor icons. However, I had to rename your default style in my folder to BIKINI because it overrode the normal DefCon default style, even when i switched mods.

Had to stare at the airbase icon for a while before I determined what it was.

Nicely done, but still doesn't top STC on my comp :P

When I tried the download link provided I'm getting a message that the file has been removed.

Any chance of still getting this one?

I'll host it if you want.

And put it on the modlist.
Actually, I'll do that anyway. Gotta get around to it sometime anyway

Maybe I'm dumb, but there's only one definition of bikini I know and this mod doesn't quite seem to fit the description. What does it mean?

1) an atoll in the Pacific where the United States tested nuclear weapons during the Cold War
2) a type of two piece bathing suit (named after said atoll)
3) the British equivelent of the DefCon system

Huh. IV being British, why didn't they call it Bikini? I think it would sell more. This thread should be in Think Tank.

What do Russia/Soviet Union use anyway? Or any other country for that manner, I can't seem to find a list of national security alert statuses. As amusing as walking through military bases and seeing the Bikini Black Special signs is, it's not a very interesting status nor is it very English.

What you want is:
INFURIATED - Higher echelon staff immediately drop their monocles and spray tea everywhere, even if they weren't drinking any
RILED - Information over a possible plot is received, a stern letter is written to those responsible
MIFFED - Anyone not wearing a waistcoat is shot on sight
CONCERNED - Shifty looking characters and ne'er-do-wells are detained
BRISTOL FASHION - Ship shape and

I think the german equivalent system would be "Spirale". The alerts are named after colors (Spirale Grün etc.).
I'm shamed every other country in this world have a alert system with a cooler name.

WOOHOOO!!! I'm an American and knew...

...what BIKINI was! Yay!

*High Five!!*

Sorry...but its just nice to not be a dumb, insular 'Merkin for a change, what with so many of you guys in/from Europe and everything :)

No disrespect intended or implied for anyone that didn't know...as it was pointed out, not really common knowledge.

Of course, I didn't know about Germany's system (or anyone else's either) so, no need for anyone to get *too* worried ;)
