I would like to make a SDI-Mod for Defcon, including satellites, fixed over a point on the worldmap and others orbiting the world on modifiable routes, scouting the enemy, firing some nukes from above, destroying icbm´s on their zenith or the enemy´s satellites. Their only should be three or better two types of them, doing two or more jobs like the subs do and being small in number. I think SDI and this game match perfectly because one idea of this crazy projekt was to protect the own territory and to have a weapon in an almost unreachable area. Also the paranoia would get on a higher level, adding a third front (without being in the middle of the players attention like landbattles) and would be a reason for a more constant aggression/ a further dynamic element.
The route of the orbit satellites should be a sine curve (an orbit around a globe is, i think, allways orientated at the middle of the globe, when a satellite has an other route than over the equator you have to show it as a sine curve on a 2D map) but, as all orbits have the same distance the satellites have to run through, the cycling time have to be allways the same. Anyone here who is good in math? Maybe the solution could be much easier, with straight lines over the worldmap like the planes do...But my biggest prob is, that i´m totaly inexperienced with modding BUT i will have holidays soon AND i´m highly motivated
