The music to this game is incredible. I want to "liberate it" from this game, so that I may listen to it as I play other games. I'm assuming it is all thrown into that huge dat file.... I think sound.dat. Any of you modders been decompiling it? I'm fairly tech saavy for a gamer, so I don't mind drawn of explanations, or just links to places I can get, or read up on what I need.
Thanx.

Allow me to elaborate further...
Get winRAR,
click on the soundfile in the defcon folder,
click 'open with' choose winRAR and it will let you extract them as ogg files,
you can get a .ogg decoder for WMP from http://www.vorbis.com/setup_windows/

In your Defcon directory, you should notice a file called sounds.dat. Copy that file to some other location, then change its extension from sounds.dat to sounds.rar (you may have to show extensions to do this -- from a Windows Explorer window, click on "Tools" -> "Folder Options..." and, under the view tab, make sure that "Hide extensions for known file types" is unchecked). Then, use WinRAR to extract the archive. A new folder called "data/" should be created. All of the sounds used in Defcon are in that folder, including the music.
