Bomber/Fighter-size

Postby Katanaa » Thu Oct 05, 2006 3:51 pm

G'day folks,
trying to mod some here, but got some questions..

anyone know if there's any way to change the size of bombers/fighters etc?

Many pics in the graphics-folder are 128*128, but they're different sizes ingame (compare Silo and Fighter for example). Anyone know how to modify the sizes of these thingies? Made a nice bomber-plane, but its way to small, doesnt look right at all :/

Havent found anything in the files ive searched, is it hardcoded?

By it not working, do you mean that it automatically resizes it back down? Or that it crops the image so you lose some of it

The scale for fighters might be set ingame, try it with an icon that appears bigger ingame, modify that and see what happens, if it resizes up or down depending on the canvas size

My bet is that the game uses perhaps a 64x64 square to resize and map the texture on, which means you could have a 4096x4096 bomber, and it'd still show up as 64x64 in-game

ya, but as it resizes the pics to different sizes (for the different ingame icons) there should be somewhere where you can edit and change how the gfx should be resized... like the silo's are size x 0.5, bombers are size x 0.2 etc..

As far as I know (and in all probablity), this is hard-coded into the game.

if someone could figure out the exact ratios that exist now there's a chance we could write a program that searched the binary for a list of floats in ratios like that (that were not all zero)
having the data == finding where it is stored.

Here's an idea---

make a mod where all the icons are white circles.
start a single player game (no enemy)
then launch a ton of unit types...make them go vertical... then zoom way the heck in and find the ratio of the pixels... (i.e. airplane is 8 pixels wide, bomber is 20) (remember you need to zoom all the way in so we get the most accuracy in the ratios and so that they are all consistently measured)

if someone can give me a list of ratios I will write you folks a program to try to find an array of floats with those ratios... of course it may not be an array--but there are other ways of finding the data once we know it
And once we find the data, changing it is a snap! :-)
