DEFCON CityPlacer
Yes, another stupidly simple tool to ease your modding experience
This tool is very simple to understand:
You get a map, and when you click on it, you're prompted for a City name, Country, and population count ... at least that's what I think it is
If you already have a 'cities.dat' file in the 'data\earth' folder, the tool just appends to this file. Else it creates a new 'cities.dat'-file.
After you've added what you want, boot up Defcon and ... look!
Keep in mind this application is very simple, and it only specifies coordinates as integers. It's meant as a tool to ease city placing (duh) until there's a Map Editor available

Update 5th of October: now able to load external maps, making the tool exponentially more useful, I think

Hah, I wasn't the only one who noticed?Montyphy wrote:You lazy bugger. You just copy&pasted from your previous post. You didn't even bother change the name of the download link.
Why type in again? I type enough as it is already without having to write something as trivial as download link headers again and again ~ Manual of style
I know, I know! I'll get working on an update ASAP0Avatar0 wrote:Can I request one feature though… The option to import your own map (simply a *bmp file) in the background instead of the default earth map, with this feature it would be incredibly useful!

Well ... I could always give it a go ... But not now. It's half past 1 am, and I haven't slept for 40 hours straight now. I think the tools I develop will be a tad bit better AFTER I get some sleepGein wrote:You think you could do it, Oh Zanzer the powerful mod tool god?Montyphy wrote:You might as well add the ability to create travel node maps and ai markers.
