quick authentication key question

Postby 01011000 » Sat Apr 27, 2013 10:07 am

this is just a quick question as I just recently purchased this game and even more recently installed it.

I was just wondering if it is normal for the game to ask me for my authentication key every time I start up the game.

also, i am getting a laptop within the next couple of weeks, and i want to put defcon on it. can i use the same key for putting it on there?

Not by design. It's a permission problem: it tries to store the key in the program directory, and that is no longer allowed on Windows 7. Running the game in XP compatibility mode helps, it is said.

I suggest you launching Defcon.exe with admin rights at least once (right-click on .exe file - "Run with administrator privileges" or something like this), or disabling uac. I think first option should do it, and there is no need in compatibility mode.
