Postby Kamun » Sun Aug 17, 2008 9:01 am

AppName: defcon.exe AppVer: 1.0.0.1 ModName: securenet.dll
ModVer: 0.0.0.0 Offset: 00068e83

is the error I get, I'm using the STEAM version, demo.

Have NO Antivirus or anti-spyware running when I load the game...

Can anyone help me?

Hmm, google search says securenet.dll is a component of this product: http://www.hide-my-ip.com/hidemyip.shtml
Since the crash (it is a crash, right? You didn't say so, but the first two lines look like a crash report) appears to come from that DLL and I could imagine that hiding your IP, at best, does not work with UDP based games and at worst borks things up, I would suggest you deactivate that program while you play.

But I don't use the program. I in fact, have it uninstalled..

When I remove the dll from system32, Defcon b**ches at me with "Cannot connect host to listen" or something like that. Basic network errors.

... Could the fact that I'm behind a dynamic IP from my ISP at the moment be the cause?

I think not, because I'm also on a dynamic and everything is allright.

Okay, well, I switched over to a static (Finally got the damned thing configured correctly.. ISP is a bunch of idiots..)

Launching Defcon now.. Just to see.

Same error.. Same dll. Here's what happens if I try to remove the dll.

Okay. Moved it to a different folder. Loading up Defcon.

Gave me networking errors. Here's the debug.txt.

I guess the .dll is still registered somewhere in the Windows Network stack.

A quick search for 'remove securenet.dll',

Reveal that you aren't the first one with this problem:

Possible bad Install/uninstall., Linked to securenet.dll.

Thank you. Quick google search led me to a program called LSPfix, Used that to remove securenet.dll, and the game works completely now. Thanks, guys. ^^
