No Lobby screen!

Postby Wasgood » Tue Jul 29, 2008 7:06 am

I keep Defcon on my flash drive with a demo key, sometimes when I open and try to host a game the only thing that appears is the chat box. It works on rare occasions. I run it windowed at 800x600.

Network problem. Defcon is probably firewalled.

Defcon in client/server architecture. Which means it need to open a server port to play even _single player_ game.

Well it works very rarely. But a strange occurrence happened when I was fiddling with it I set it to compatibility mode for windows 95 and it worked. Not sure if it had to do with it or was just one of the rare occasions.

I am having the same issue with the linux version.
I think its strange that you need a internet connction even for single player. I have a dull memory that i played it once without i-net.
And the box cover states: Internet Connection requiered for multi-player. Which implies its not needed for single player.

A way around opening the firewall, is to start a dedcon and connect to it. But it will use my key 2x at the same time, dont know if this is an issue. And i dont have a GUI.

No internet connection is needed. Simply need to unblock the server port and permit the client to connect to it ...

So why would it work sometimes and not others. Must be a crappy firewall.
