Tutorial + New Game Not starting

Postby Costa456 » Tue Jan 15, 2008 1:05 am

Hello, After watching WarGames and learning about this game I imediatley downloaded the demo without any problems from Defcon's official site. I start up the game and nothing is wrong...yet. When i click on new game it just comes up a window that read public and alliance and I have no idea how to add AI.

Also when I click on "Tutorial" it says starting tutorial but it never starts! And I have waited for 10 minitues which im sure is not the regualr waiting time.... Can anyone help me?

I'm going to assume that your network is not properly configured - maybe the game is too heavily firewalled? Or drivers aren't installed for your network card?
Here is my signature. Make of it what you will.

I agree with shinygerbil, your symptoms are know to be caused by network trouble. Two parts of the defcon program communicate with each other over the network system. It would be useful to run some tests:
- can you join online games? You don't have to play, just enter as a spectator.
- open the command console (it hides somewhere in the start menu in vista, I forgot where, probably among the system tools) and enter "ipconfig" there, then paste the window's contents here.
- do you have a Norton brand security tool installed? Or any other firewall/security software besides the ones Vista comes with?
