Laggy sound problems

Postby adfielding » Wed Dec 19, 2007 9:22 pm

Hi folks, first time here so go easy on the noob :)

I recently bought the Introversion Pack off of Steam, and am having some sound issues with Defcon. There seems to be a lot of latency when using my outboard audio interface - at first I thought it was a Directsound problem, so I ran dxdiag and changed the acceleration settings and tested it out. No problems. This is the first time I've encountered this problem in a game, and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions or had encountered this before?

So far I have tried:-
Changing the sample rate
Changing the amount of channels
Adjusting acceleration settings in dxdiag
Updating audio drivers

I am using an FCA-202 firewire interface. I tried using my Soundmax internal soundcard (using an HP NX6325 laptop here) and that seemed to sort the problem out... but I can't use my speakers with my internal soundcard. I was also having some video issues but updating to the latest Catalyst drivers seemed to sort that out nicely.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

See, I was thinking that - but this is the first time I've come across this problem. I'm already running dx9.0c, so I'm not really sure where to go from here (well, besides reinstalling Vista... which, ahh, I don't think would help much). It may well be a problem with my sound card or something driver related, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to see if anyone else has had this problem :)

Cheers!
