Defcon Failing to update from 1.3 to 1.43

Postby k12azy13astard » Sun Dec 16, 2007 8:04 am

Good Evening.

I just recently bought Defcon (not though Steam or online download) after seeing it in action at a recent airsoft game I attended. After playing for a bit when I got home, I got hooked and wanted to update the game before playing online. However when I attempted to install the Patch 1.43 (and 1.42 after seeking help on these forums and preforming several searches on this issue), it fails when trying to update the defcon.exe

The game works fine however, and I'm unable to run the patch.

Make sure that DEFCON isnt open and that you have nothing related to Defcon open. If all else fails open in safe mode and do that patch thingo again.

Oh fine, if no one else will...

This is a somewhat rare bug that seems to only be solved by rebooting into safe mode (press F8 just after the POST screen when booting) and installing the patch. It doesn't have anything to do with Defcon still running or not, or whether you clap three times and hold your tongue just right or any of the other things people might tell you.

This does beg the question- How many people have to have this problem before others stop thinking it's nonsense?

Hope that helps you.

Hardly nonsense - it does occur if you have Defcon running. Just because that was not the case for you does not change that fact. Perhaps the more pertinent question is - when will people search before asking such questions?

It's four times, that's the whole problem. :P
