weird lines on the pacific ocean?

Postby pan2 » Tue Jun 26, 2007 9:51 am

Installed Defcon on a laptop with a GeForce go5200 graphics card. I get these weird lines around the pacific ocean-- they do not move. Otherwise things look OK. Anyone seen this before?

I think they are international borders (there are many countries located on those islands). I really don't know why they'd been initially drawn by the guys at IV but this is the only explanation I've got. I think, that probably the map itself was imported from some real map where these borders were marked out. They'd just left it as it was. Although, this is strange, since logic suggests that other naval borders should be marked out too in this case. I use them as navigation ladnmarks in Pacific.

Yep, they're just borders. That, or a flying hippo.

Wow, really? But they look so ugly. And some of the lines don't connect which is pretty odd for a map. Ah well, if you say so...

Didn't even know that option was there
Does it remove any other lines, besides those in the pacific?

Yes. It removes all national boundaries. Wouldn't it have been faster to just try it out yourself?

I knew this reply was going to come.
In the same vein, if I had been able at that point to test it, would I have bothered asking xander? But I still appreciate the reply.
