Hi everyone,

I just ordered the DEFCON boxed set. Will the program I downloaded be fully functional or will I need the box to unlock the full game. What else is included in the boxed set?

The downloaded version will be fully functional as soon as you enter the key you got per email, and made sure it is version 1.42, the most current stable version; if you downloaded some days ago, you would have gotten version 1.4. I think the box contains the CD and the printed manual and nothing else, but I'm not sure.

Just to be clear to anyone else in the future: the only thing that you need to get a functional, full version of Defcon is a valid key. When you order from IV, they email a key to you. Download the demo, input the key, and you are good to go. When you order the boxed version, a box is sent to you, with a CD, manual, &c. You do not need this boxed version to play or install Defcon. It is just a nice bonus.

Thanks everyone. I was pretty sure this was the case, I just wanted to check and make sure I didn't miss anything. Hopefully I'll see some of you on the map sometime.

That's only with the North American retail release, as opposed to the versions ordered from IV to which xander referred.
