Patch 1.3's here & memory leak too
I wonder when that memory leak will get solved? it's realy annoying to have all memory "eaten" by a ~60 MB game

As has been mentioned elsewhere, it it daft to assume that just because a game is small, it necessarily uses less memory than games like FEAR and Half Life 2. Nevertheless, I certainly support preventing memory leaks.

You must admit that it is a little bit ironic and
Code: Select all
f=open('foobar', 'w')
while 1:
f.write('YUM')

Just for the record 70 might not seem as bad as it initially looks. Some computers have a higher bare minimum background processes than other. One of my (very old) computers I can get down to 30, while the one I'm currently on I cannot get below 50. With a few non-essential programs running, 70 would be possible on this computer in a non-redicilous (and non-spyware infected) way.

Bare minimum processes would only be OS processes. In no way should these exceed 40 processes on a Windows XP machine.

If on startup you have so many processes running you should seriously consider using alternative software that doesn't require background processes when the program isn't be used (i.e avoid iTunes).
zouhair, are you emulating Windows on a Mac in order to play Defcon?
hehe no no I use XP Home
I play Counter Strike too with Firefox open and all my processes on with everything working right
but just some minutes away I get an alert saying that i'm out of memory and I just stopped defcon before the PC could freeze (the CPU was getting damn hot)
The game is great but BADLY VERY BADLY programmed
