flickering

my brother is having a problem with his copy of defcon, when he loads it up the screen flickers. he has tried reinstalling but no effect. any ideas?
How about a nice game of chess?

Are the graphics drivers all updated?

well when he runs in dual screen it works fine so im guessing they are.
How about a nice game of chess?
