Cheating

Postby koorb » Sat Sep 30, 2006 6:40 pm

This game is SO easy to cheat on it's silly. Some of the values need to be encrypted otherwise cheating will become very common.

Did you try that with another player? You'll probably find you'll get Sync errors
Uplink help: Check out the Guide or FAQ.
Latest Uplink patch is v1.55.

Maybe you might want to forward the exploit on to IV forum members e.g. Chris or Icepick. In PM of course.

Indeed, if you try in a game with others then you should get a sync error.

I'd be interested in hearing the result. Let me know when you've tried.

Ye if you play against other players and alter a value a message box is displayed which says that the game is not synchronised with other players, press resynchronise to fix this, or something like that. After resyncronising new values are created in memmmory from the other players games and the game runs from the new set of data.

This will actually make cheating very difficult depending on the type of data each client is entrusted with, but that is all far more than I am prepared to experiment with.

It can be done a few ways. Memory editing, packet editing... Whatever the case, it will be caught 99% of the time. Don't do it in an actual game. ;)

Nobody here would give you a step-by-step method to cheat in Defcon, single player or otherwise. Sorry.

Since it doesn't work in Defcon I don't see any reason not to tell you.

I am using a memory editor designed to find specific values in programs called ArtMoney.
