Unit panel dissapear

Hello,
In the last tutorial of the demo version, the unit panel dissapear both from screen and from button bar, making the game unplayable. I think it happens when the defcon status change... any fix for this, or somebody else with the same issue?
My system specs are windows xp sp2, p4 1.7ghz with nvidia geforce 6200 and the latest nvidia drivers

You can only place units in Defcon 5 and 4. Once it turns to Defcon 3, you cannot place any more and the panel disappears.

You can't place units once you reach Defcon 3.

It tells you that during the Tutorial. It also tells you whether you still have units to place at Defcon 4, ever noticed the bold red writing underneath the countdown?
