Links to helpful stuff for Defcon

Postby sfericz » Thu Apr 23, 2009 11:34 pm

I thought that there was some good information out there, but would be hard to find for the new user, so here are some links to very useful guides and tips.

My first tip will be to download Dedcon, from dedcon.homelinux.net [fixed link --mod]. You may watch recordings of games with this client.

Another thread with a ton of useful links! Check it out here Thanks too Admiral Yoshi!

Here are some short video tutorials on some good tactics for subs bombers and silos.

Here Is one of the best Ballistics Charts I've seen.

Here is a very nice guide dealing with Fighter Plane Strategy.

Last but not least, here are some recommended Mods for defcon that will help your game play.

Radar Mod (Will show the furthest possible radar a territory can have, so you don't place land units within their radar range.) [fixed the link; if 503 appears reload the page --mod]
Surfaced Subs ( Will hike up the subs a bit, to see a surfaced sub better)
Clean Ring Explosions ( It will leave the middle of a impact zone clear, so that you may still see your target's name and population level) [fixed link]
Grid Mod (There are two grid mods out there, so I will let you choose from the two.) 1 2

This post will be edited from time to time, So if you have any helpful links to add, please be sure to post them!

NeoThermic, who is not an IV employee, would be your best bet for getting this stickied. I'll give him a poke on IRC.

Sticky-ed. Yes, sticky-ed. My spell checker dislikes stickied and stickied. So I'm going with sticky-ed. So there.

Wow, since this is sticky, some of the members needs to give there input with what they think would be a good edition. I know I left out a ton of information.
