My Subs - They surface only to die.

Postby Jimbo Jones » Wed Apr 01, 2009 9:10 am

Okay, I searched the forums for a while trying to find some discussion of my question but didn't find my answer, hence:

In about half my games I surface my subs to strike and they promptly get slaughtered even before they can get more than a couple of nukes away. Please supply your wisdom to assist me to lose less!

Should I:

1. Launch further away (giving enemy more time to react)?
2. Send them with fighter and bomber (carrier/battleship) cover support (hmm, I'll just sneak a fleet up here.....)?
3. Distract his air cover elsewhere?
4. Have taken out his air bases before launching sub nukes?
5. Have taken out his navy and air bases before launching sub nukes? (oh the luxury..)
6. Implement <your various favorite strategies> and see the error of my ways.

Yours in noobile ignorance. Love this game though!

Cheers,

Jimbo.

All launches should be secured. With wgatever assets you have available. In essence all of the above and then some.

That's kinda ironic coming from you. :P

Ahem, just kidding.

The only real way to launch subs is to have cover and as much radar as possible. All other ways are inferior, though some can be effective at times. If you like to sneak up and just surface, you take the risk of getting killed right away or before subs can get empty. If that risk is acceptable, then do it.

Read this thread and watch this video for basic tips. Your question is really answered at about 1 minute in.
