Simple NA vs SA strategie

Postby trickser » Tue Dec 23, 2008 8:12 am

Its considered a disavantage to be NA when your enemy sits to your south. I often use a very simple but efficient strategie in this case.
Since i dont see many people doing this and as a x-mas gift i wanna share it with the other defcon addicts. :)

They idea is to kill all of SA pop without much hassle, but there is no defence in this startegie (too complicated to catch all possible cases), so it wont work on its own against a skilled player.

The key is to setup your silos to reach all these otherwise hard to reach southern coastal targets. Fit the silos on the most eastern tip of NA, they will be between SAs east and west coast. So the nuke arcs for east coast targets will bow east and west for west coast targets. They will be almost not interceptable, no matter how SAs silo setup looks (unless silos are in Mexico, but then you will see them in your radar. Just shoot them before silo launch, with bombers or subs)

I scrawled in my prefered targeting order (to maximize saturation effect), but if you need to hurry, go for major citys first of cource.

I place all or most of my fleet in Atlantic, mainly to protect my subs, which i use to get the harder to reach city in the middle of SA.
For mexico and relief i use bombers.

It works best with default citys, but can be adapted to most city distibutation. The southern cities just have to be coastal.

I use this alot in 6player games. If SA leaves the Atlantic to you (because it wants to cover its usual mexican subs), you have plenty of fleet left to get targets in Europe and/or Africa.

Good strategy  Especially if you have enough airfields to cover the middle pacific void for mexican subs/ or carrier -launched bombers.

Nice one!

I do similar in that set up, but I've never thought about silo placement, in relation to targets, so much. (and it gets me in trouble, in some setups)

Going mostly Atlantic, you can do the same thing SA does, but their population isn't quite so easy to reach with subs. It's much easier to scout their silos and infrastructure, tho.

Also, have 3-4 bombers in the air, heading for Cuba, just before Defcon 1. So you can nuke their subs. If they don't pop them right away, they're sure to be close. (Usually just out of range, off Peru.)

I'm never putting my subs there again.

And thanks for the X-MAS present trickser! Very nice tactics.

hehe, no.. for you sfericz, I target the edges of radar range...especially where there's an indentation due to overlap. :P

(hoping you now take your subs to mars, like mor)

Haha, the pain of using radar range mod.

A well-considered strategy as one would expect from you.
