What is your favorite continent to play, and why?

As in, what are the boons for your favorite continent you like most, the setups, the tactics, etc.

(it's in the Strategies section, because someone is bound to post something resembling a strategy.

My own favorite might be Africa, but I haven't played enough to really choose.
I've played 2 or 3 'decent' games with it.

Edit: I failed the polls, the second Russia was supposed to be europe.

After all those monthes playing Defcon, each time I start a new game, I say "Crap! xxx again!!" where xxx is a territory that randomizer gives me So I'd say I hate them all equally

I like Russia, with an alliance with Europe, your enemies have to fight their way through the European cities to get to your major cities, and you don't have to defend your eastern side. Allowing more of your ships to play offensive.


But when Europe is the enemy, things are different...

In a 6 player game my favourite is Africa. In a 1v1 game it depends on which territory my opponent is.

ditto but I like Russia or Asia as well, in 6 player. Definitely a preference for Russia and Africa, tho. They both have so many options for silos, and can reach many places fast. The Americas work well too, if you play it right.


As North America, you can get Mexico and north SA with airbases/fleet, London/Paris & Tokyo/Shanghai with subs/fleet and launch silos ASAP on Moscow and lengingrad... WIN

Why isn't Europe a choice? It is my favorite in 6 player FFA.

In all other modes my territory likeness changes with each setup.

When playing against noobs - maybe.
Against somewhat experienced players - not to mention an Allstar Game - foget ist.
Africa will get London/Paris, Tokyo and Shanghai will got to the Russians, Moscow and Leningrad belong to EU. Or something like that.
You`ll get Mexico City and thats about it.

Yeah, obviously it wouldn't work that way in an All-Star game. It's more about grabbing what you can from others, while working your neighbor down to villages. Still, tho... NA can hit London just as easily as Africa.

Assume that all three players have equal skills.

To nuke London, NA has to deploy forces in the atlantic and win the naval battle there.
If we assume both EU and NA will deploy 50 percent of their forces in the atlantic (the rest of the fleet in the pacific and northern seas) the result will be a bloody draw.
Sure, if NA ist lucky he can engage London with a couple of bombers and nukes.
But regardless of the outcome of the seabattle in the Atlantic, Africa doesn`t need to deploy anything there to nuke London.
Just deploy ten airfield bombers with some fighter cover and time it right.
NA will never have a chance.

Ok sure, we don`t talk about exotic silo formations.

People playin USA in 6-player hardly ever go for the 50:50 split, even if they're going after Tokyo. Everyone, goes heavy Atlantic, and if they're smart they'll control it as swiftly as they can... including a rush into African waters, below spain.
