hi there folks,
iam playing this defcon since it was released once in awhile but cant say that iam getting much better, iam pwnd mostly allthetime.
what bothers me most is the fact that almost all other players are much better/faster in micromanaging their units. and the fact, that i loose most of the naval battles and as u all know its hard to survive without a navy.
yesterday i was in an 2vs2 and the two players on enemy side had names like <` and \\\\\\\ . one of the played Africa while i was SA. he was able to arrange his naval units in perfect vertical lines one above the other stacked (sorry i have no screenshot). how can this be done and how can u move these units without loosing the arrangement in a perfect line?
today i had a game and one player was able to arrange his carriers as shown on this screen. i dont know how to do that, can anyone help me?[/img]

Re: arranging naval units
Well, guessing how the picture may look like, you put every ship in its own fleet. Consequently, you'll have to manage each ship separately later. Realtime (and a thick skin to ignore the "SPD FFS" trolls) is your friend there.OMama wrote:how can this be done and how can u move these units without loosing the arrangement in a perfect line?
The other image you wanted to post is not there
When placing your naval units, you'll notice 6 boxes that fill up as you choose. directly below these boxes is a deployment button. When you are done choosing how many units you want, click the deployment button. This is how people place smaller groups of units. you make "lines" by placing 1 or 2 unit groups right next to each other...to keep them together you have to move them at the same time.

dont know what the current trend is in defcon (havent played competitive matches since december 07), but i used to (and still do, shows my skill or inherent lack of skill with a mouse
) use mixtures of 2's and 3's to make management easier. Just a thought. 2's can make creating vertical line formations a little annoying as to create an effective line, u have to bunch units more, and i dont like zooming in too much, id rather see the bigger picture.

it's better to put them in smaller groups, correct?
Try it with different sizes, all sorts of combinations(don't mix subs with anything). Until you figure out what you like. I change fleet sizes etc.. depending on my plan and what I assume the other player(s) are doing.
