Newbie wants help :P

Postby Solon » Sun Nov 04, 2007 9:40 pm

I just bought this game on a whim, not realizing there was so much strategy to it, and I'm interested :P

Is there a beginners guide anywhere that could show me some good techniques, or should I just hang out here and try to learn something?

There's no real comprehensive tactics guide that I know of, but there's plenty of other ways to learn - read the threads in this subforum is a good start, and watch some of the recordings from http://dedcon.homelinux.net/serverlogs/ to get some good ideas. You'll need to download dedcon to watch them, get it from http://dedcon.net.

Also try this thread. Just remember that some of the 'specific' strategies / techniques mentioned may be a little old and outdated now.

It's been a while since anyone actually arranged any games / help sessions off it, but a general read-through will certainly help.

Also just generally spectating a few games to get a 'feel' for how they're played, as well as of course playing yourself, as we learn far more through experience.

Cool :)

I already found Dedcon and got it working, so that seems pretty cool. I'll read through that stuff and spec some games tonight.

Thanks guys

best way to improve is to play a lot of really good people over and over :D
