general 6 player strat help pls
After analyzing my style in 6 player games, i have found that it is my general strategy which is flawed, not my micromanagement or anything like that, so guys, can you help someone who has 'lost his way' after a short coursework break?

hi there (name sux) wrote:Contrary to popular belief, 6 player default is not a race.
It's simple. You just need to use your brain. Where you place your assets depends on a lot of things (players, alliances, etc.)
If you aim for the biggest targets, it all comes down to luck.
and as for naval placement, go for who is likely the 'main enemy'?

Fix'd, and I think you missed what he said. "Where you place your assets depends on a lot of things (players, alliances, etc.)", so could be yes, could be no. In 6 player default it seems (at least the current state of things) that your main priority is cities, secondary is naval. Of course, part of that main priority can mean 'clearing' a path for bombers and/or subs with naval forces or misdirecting the other players main defenses to allow bombers and/or subs to sneak by somewhere else.

No.
IMO its wrong to engage in costly seabattles with your enemy.
Dominating the sea is not necessary for victory. You just need kills, kills and kills. Nothing else matters.
You won´t get any kills if your loose your fleet in battle (to destroy the enemy fleet in the process won´t help you win). Use your naval units to strike. Try to avoid pointless fights and concentrate on nuking cities.
Enemy fleets can be easily defeated with the good old naval nuking (or just shoot down the bombers or let them nuke some minor cities).
Furthermore, always have more than one plan. Never ever deploy all of your fleet against on single territory. Things can go wrong and you´ll loose when they do.
In most of my games i split my fleet, therewith targeting at least two territorys. 3 or more subs somwhere elese and you have a third option.
Its wrong to tell yourself "Well, it absolutly necessary that i can do this and that, without it i cannot win." Things will always go wrong.
The same goes for warfare with your land based units. One major attack option for Def 1 and two contingency plans.
And remember: The easiest way to get points is to backstab your allie.
That being said it always depends on the situation. You can´t say if i´m this territory i´ll play this way. Every game is different. Just think about the situation, decide and deploy.

Play any way. It doesn't matter how you play unless it is really dumb. A player like Feud will deploy all against one territory and destroy their silos and airbases. A player like countersmurf will spread his fleet to make way for his subs (the most deadly weapon in the game). A player like Pater will usually expose his silos to enemy radar to get the maximum offensive reach.
All good players, all playing differently.
