I never knew for a fact that they had hit points. I just believed like everyone else that everything has 1 hp and it is based on chance. But I always felt that they are more sturdy than planes, so I guess in a way I did know they have hit points :lol:

Byron, that is true. A downed plane will always take out a ship. But at Defcon 3, a single shot wont, ever. At least, that is from my memory (haven't played in a long time).

There is no hit-zone as such, every unit and structure in game is a single point. It is counted as "been hit" when gunfire gets close enough. Same for nukes. There is no difference, from where the shot is coming from. But, when it hits plane on the tip, it means that plane is going towards whatever is shooting at it. So it will get hit by more shots in shorter amount of time, and thus is more likely to die quicker.

As for what is the actual unit position in game, it is where the trail starts.

Wow, this is really cool stuff. So this is how BBs are so tanky at the beginning but seem to drop like flies as a battle goes on. Thanks for the research!
