Many times I have seen my allies bombers headed straight for my land. I panic, and vote to remove them from the alliance and proceed to launch fighters to take care of the problem.
All of a sudden "HEY! I was just passing through to get a better angle!" , Well crap.. if they weren't intended for me i just shot down my allies bombers.. great.
How am i supposed to know that you werent trying to backstab me?
Communication is key. If you need to send Nukes, or Bombers over my territory PLEASE ask first.
Tip: When nuking another player but your warheads need to fly over enemy territory to get there -- instead of having them shot at by 2 territory's silos.. ask for a ceasefire while they fly overhead.

In diplomacy, like with many similar games, a good start is usually to pick one person that everybody fries. This is either the guy everyone thinks is most likely to win, or the most annoying/prominent.
Don't announce you'll sink subs. Just do it. Then use the aggressive event to get everyone else to nuke that dude.

Similar thing happened to me last night - playing as Asia, I watched an ally's subs creep along my coastline, escorted by one of my carrier groups.
When they surfaced, my bombers were already in the air over them - the whole group was sunk.
They did get a few birds away though - all of which landed in Russia, our mutual enemy.
An unfortunate incident that could have been avoided by better comms... though I'd have probably warned my ally off.
Given the number of times I have launched against people en masse just after leaving an alliance, I tend to get a little nervy when I spot subs

Once, I was playing as Asia. N. America was moving a carrier group from Alaska to Russia. I PM'd N. America, saying that he had one chance to turn his carriers around before I sunk them. N. America annouced to everyone that "ammo is threatening my stuff". Later on, N. America breaks the alliance wth S. America and launches bombers across Russia .
