Air exploration?

Postby Moleculor » Mon Oct 02, 2006 4:33 am

Ok. Anyone have any tips for getting fighters into enemy territory? I'm having a hard time actually geting an idea of what the other side has for defensive layouts.

I have the same problem usually.

I'm not sure there's any solution.

Obvious answer: Send out a bunch at a time? :)
Some people talk because they have something to say. Others talk because they have to say something.

Before Defcon 1, the best way is to swarm your fighters so some get through the defenses.

After Defcon 1, the best way is to send a few nukes in as decoys, and slip the fighters through at the same time.

But they launch one after the other, so they tend to get blown up one at a time.

And they have so little fuel, you can't have them wait around like you can with bombers.

I'll probably get to the Air Force right after I finish with naval Battles in a Lets Talk About, but for now..

Use multiple air bases. Launch fighters and bombers together, from two or three airbases together, during sub nuke attacks if late in the game, before that if you want to scout in defcon3. Launch as early in defcon 3 as possible, so as to have a chance to regenerate the fighters in the Airbases. Don't worry about losing fighters. The Bombers will probably see more than the fighters will, and still get back to tell the tale.

Don't worry too much about the defenses beyond finding radars/airbases. once you take out the radars, you can fly air forces through the area /much easier/ and discover everything you need to know. I'll explain all this again in a few days, but I hope that's enough for now.
