OMG - the game has been released a couple of days ago and already people are starting to post "nerf this" and "nerf that" threads. And as usual these are people who simply suck at the game - no, not becausethey suck in general, but because THEY HAVEN'T LEARNED TO PLAY PROPERLY YET. Look at this guy - registered and posted just this thread... Give him some time and he'll learn how to crack Europe...

I think that due to the fact that europe is so compact and that Sam/Silo become clustered Europe is a country with a definite advantage, plus the fact that the European fleet is always consolidated in the Atlantic is a huge boost too.

Eh. The good parts of that are at least balanced by the bad.

Nerf Europe?

Europe is PWNED in every game I have played (except one).

Why would you want to Nerf something that already sucks?

I dislike playing Europe because 3 countries can see very significant portions of your defenses the second Defcon 4 roles around. I much prefer playing as territories where I can at least attempt to keep my opponents in the dark about precise structural placements.

Relating to Europe, but not necessarily critiquing it's pros and cons, I noticed that you can place a structure at Gibraltar so far down, that it spans the strait and is pretty much in Africa.

True that having a fleet restricted to one area is extremely limiting to say the least, but you are virtually forced to have the greatest single fleet in the game, while your neighboring opponents have the 'freedom' to place their fleets on opposite coasts of their countries, essentially fragmented when compared to Europe's.

A huge problem with playing Europe is that from a large chunk of the territory, as soon as anything is launched it's under enemy AA fire. Also, enemies can see as soon as you begin to switch to nuke mode with your silos, giving them the chance to quickly mobilize and take them out of commission before they become defensive again.

While it's easy to turtle up in Europe, it's horribly difficult to strike from.

In which case, one would launch nukes from the english channel and use the silos as AA cover.

ala Mexican standoff, only European style :D

This just opens up your biggest city to enemy nukes - either from America, subs, bombers, etc. And if they can take out the silos that fired, then your defenses in W. Europe are bound to get swamped.

Unless, of course, you make sure to annihilate every last one, which sometimes doesn't happen. :P

And still, your nukes are getting fired at while still deep in your own territory, unless you're firing over the atlantic towards the americas.
