http://www.sonicspot.com/guide/wavefiles.html is the wave file format. There is a bit about the header in there. You COULD (in theory) just use notepad, but putting in the data size would be "interesting"
I looked up about wave file format a while back. Its not that hard to make the header. RIFF is the first 4 bytes (to show its a wav file, hence why renaming didnt do anything....), then there is the file size, then a file format ID bit =/
The chunks of data for the wav are the bits that would get ya though....
