Call me stupid if you like, but I've only just been on this site for the first time after clearing the demo in PC Zone, and I hear all this about a bonus disc. What is it?

When Uplink was first released there was a little card token under the cd in the cd case. If you got a friend to by Uplink and give you the token you could send it in to get a free bonus cd. After a while IV decided you could buy them if you wanted, or get them free with the delux boxset which had Uplink and the bonus disc.

The bonus disc itself just contains early versions of Uplink, Book2 of the gamebible, and a few other things.
Unfortunately the Bonus disc is no longer available.

No, very true, LInker.  On top of which, the "early Uplink" programs are pretty interesting IMO, and reveal much about the development.  Twas a pity they stopped selling 'em; I was one of the last to order one.

You can download most of the Bonus Disk from www.ambrosiasw.com .  It is titled something like Uplink extras.  However as it is the Mac publisher's site the early Uplink versions are not included (they are PC only).  :)

Chris had played around with other things, one was 3D Uplink.  None are that stable or complete, but kind of neat anyway.  :)

Some are actualy good looking

but not with much real funtionality, it's kindda fun
to see how Uplink went through a few different Ideas
and designs, still all had the basic blue color to it. :)

a neat little disc ;)

You also have to remeber those programs were just testing concepts.  As such there are very crude and would have certainly looked better if they had been polished.  :)

Does anyone know if those tests in source are on the DevCD?

They would be cool if they worked, and were'nt just eye candy... (Though those blocks hardly stand as much)
