No Uplink Mods Are Installing

Hi, everyone. I've been looking to install several mods (FBI and Simply Uplink mods); I place the files into the Uplink folder which for me is in Program Files/Strategy First/Uplink, then click the install exes for them. The mods install (or appear to), but upon starting a new profile, I try to check out through InterNIC, the FBI system, but there's absolutely nothing there.
As for the rest of the mods, it doesn't seem at all as if anything was truly changed within the game. Does anyone know why this is? Thank you!
