I've been following this guide: http://www.cheats.ru/english/pc/u/uplink/cheats.php

and when I create the .hex file it's 0 kb. Also in the cmd.exe it says "This file may not be a REDSHIRT file, you can try manually decryting/encryting it with /2 or /4".

I believe the newer versions of Uplink change the encryption type to redshirt2 - the encryption method for Darwinia. It's also entirely possible that it requires a different key - I can't help you there.

I uploaded sometime ago a version of the redshirt tool that could encrypt/decrypt in redshirt2, see redshrt2.exe (Please note that the use of this file is entirely to your own risk!)

I tried that but it says -d is not a valid command.

It's working fine here.

Tell me what I'm doing wrong. I tried "redshirt -d tempest.usr tempest.hex" too but it's not in the screenshot.

Check thoughtfully the above screenshot and you will realize that copy pasting that cheat tutorial without thinking is not good.

He was trying to say that all you needed to do was type it correctly rather copy word for word an outdated manual.

You were trying to run "redshirt" but you need to type "redshrt2.exe" (which you did the first time but not the second).

Sorry to bring up a 4 year old thread, but redshirt2 is no longer available from that link, anyone have a different one?
