The problem is not everyone checks the Uplink forums nowadays... Anyway, your mod sounds neat.

Any update on what mods are working with STEAM and HOW?

None for 2 reasons.

1) No mods have been updated to 1.55.

2) 1.55 haven't been pushed to Steam. (Not enough testing has been done)

1.55

I'm running the beta on steam, so far so good. What would it take to upgrade the FBI mod to 1.55? I'm new to this, but are there tools on the devCD to upgrade or does it all have to be rewritten.

1) Get the MOD source, a lot harder then it may sound.

2) Do a diff between MOD source and devCD 1.31 source.

3) Apply the diff on 1.55 and correct the conflits. Shouldn't be _too_ hard, I tryed to change the minimun so code change could be ported easily.

In fact, if someone gets FBI mod source and author permission I could perhaps do 1.55 porting!

I wouldn't be surprised if the FBI source was lost in a distant hard drive failure.

This mod sounds totally kickass. Can't wait to use it. Being able to actually use virus attacks would be great, like when you get the email to destroy entire computer systems: "use whatever you need to wipe out everything whether it be system resets, virus attacks, etc."

Now that would be tight.

Suggestions:
Some points during play agents get arrested I was wondering if since you can get people arrested maybe you could add a server that can release agents back into the field. (finding out the agents real names by hacking the Uplink internal services server)
The Wi-fi stuff sounds really interesting I hope you'll be able to get this to work for the steam version.
Oh another suggestion would be a notebook type program inside uplink where you could type in account details or anything and save it on memory.
and/or Account details such as Amount in account being viewable from the admin account of a bank.

Thanks so much and good luck with making what looks like to be a great mod for Uplink

Hello,

Thanks for all the continued suggestions. I just wanted to pop in and let you folks known that I haven't just died. I do work on this in my free time, but I wouldn't expect a release (even initial) any time soon. Perhaps when I'm done with my move and some of my workload I'll be able to get more seriously involved and get an alpha release out in a few months. :)

Interestingly enough I was trawling around my hard drives (All 1.5 terabytes) and discovered the FBI mod source code, or at least part of it from when neott was designing it and I was helping a bit.

I might take a look at it.

This is great news!

Drop me a line if you need any help.

And please, spread this source before it disappear again ;)

If it is indeed the source code, I could be wrong, I will need neotts permission to send it to anyone else first, but if it is the code, and he okays it, then I will gladly send it to you frenchfrog.

Could it even be used in an upcoming patch perchance? Now there is an interesting thought....
