Yea, probably calling down flames from TPTB or whatnot, but here goes...
How about a flash (or java if the code porting would be easier) version of Uplink on the main page as sort of an interactive intro? A "demo lite" version if you will. Page loads, the user is given a small set of tools, such as password breaker, trace tracker, file copier, log deleter, etc.
They connect to server X, copy a file, send it to server Y, and server Y grants access to the site. And it would include a link to download the demo, because surely there'd be people out there wondering, "What the hell just happened? That was interesting..." and they'd be wanting to find out more.
Of course for the lazy 'tards who wouldn't have the guts to do it (or just a bad net connection, get a Modem 10Gqds already! lol) there'd be a "skip intro" option.
