yeah, do you already have an homepage? You can also try to get an SF.net project then you have webspace, subversion, FileRealese System(where you dont have to delte files ever + mirrors and so on), etc. My project is an Java, may we can join the project, but an more ObjectOriented processor would be more efficent and easier to program with.

I hope to find some old PC and have a friend of mine hook it up to a permanent connection, so that I can use it as a web-server, and move the homepage there.
I will probably upload the files themselves to SF tough, as it's more efficient.
The idea is that the CPU itself is transparent, you get a whole PC where you can add RAM,etc... in the future I may add SMP support as well, but I can't find a way to make it secure, since if I make it an opensource project I can't count on hacking to be hardware dependent, so in order to make it playable and challenging you'll need to have skills, since everyone could just compile themselves a very fast CPU, max the ram, etc...
As for the virtual web itself, I plan on using an-IP like protocol, of 32bit address. What happens is that when you load the program, it connects to a server and gets a virtual IP, it also gets a translation table that translate V-IP addresses into real-IP+port (this way, one real computer can simulate an endless number of virtual ones).
But that's a long shot from where I am now.

yeah great, then joining would be easier than when you used C++, or so. The Python thing is there is an Python runtime writte in Java, where you can use Python for scripting its called JPython, jpython.org
I like it, but i am not an very good Python programmer
PS: my IDE can be seen in the picture

Looks nice, tough I'd leave the interface to the end.
First do the hard part while you've got the "zeal" for it, then do the easier parts, when you're happy and glad to have finished the hard part of the program.
I've tought of a pascal clone to be the programming language for the game.
I think that a basic set of tools can be pre-made, and it'll allow the gamers to do some basic hacking, but they'll be easily spoted and easy to stop. So they'll need to work on their own tools.
Python will be a must have when the game is running, to write maintenence scripts for all the virtual comany servers.

you may also subscribe the SVN-Mailinglist, so you know when something was changed and may can want to get the new version. It can be found here: http://lists.sourceforge.net/mailman/listinfo/java-link-svn

PS: I'll get you with the real-Transparency of my Frames.
EDIT:
Homepage can now be found here:http://java-link.sourceforge.net/index.php. OK, its actually under construction, so report any Bugs, Problems and Ideas in the Forum. If it generally doesnt work send me an email: welterde AT arcor DOT de

OK, Update:
i have written an temporary build script for *nix systems. Does anyone know how to port this script to windows?
Also i will soon start to build binary packages you can download.(when version 0.0.1 is out)
The server will be a bit tricky to setup, cause it requires you to setup an JCR repository(http://jackrabbit.apache.org)
